The Governing body is responsible for the overall management of the school, although in practice, many of the day to day functions are delegated to the Headteacher. Governors serve for a period of up to four years and may offer to serve again at the end of their term. Parent governors are elected by ballot of all parents, and staff governors by members of staff. Other governors are appointed, co-opted or made associate members, either through the local education authority, from elected Borough Council members, or from the local community.
Governors are regular visitors to the school and meet at least once a term. Governors take part in staff interviews, represent the school at official functions and take responsibility for monitoring the delivery of a curriculum subject area or another aspect of school management.
Most work full-time and many of their governing body duties take place after school or in the evenings. We are very grateful to all of our governors for the commitment that they continue to give to the school.
