Safeguarding

Oakdale Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school. All concerns are passed through the members of staff who are trained as "Designated Child Protection Officers" in school in compliance with the "sharing of information" guidance.

If you have any serious concerns about a child, particularly if you think they may be suffering or at risk of suffering harm, please share this information promptly with the

Designated Safeguarding (and Prevent) Lead (Mrs K Gillingham) or Deputy Lead (DDSL) (Miss E Black)

Safeguarding Leads (Mrs A Sinclair, Mr C Monk, Mrs C O'Connor, Ms M Conba)

Other useful contacts -

Online safety champion: Mr D Wingrove

Safeguarding Link Governor: Mrs L Naylor

The Police via Operation Encompass alert the school directly that a domestic abuse incident has occurred at the home of a child.  However, routinely the detail of the incident will not be shared with the education setting unless there are other concerns about a child’s welfare.  This is to ensure that education settings meet their data protection requirements.

You can read our safeguarding policy on our dedicated policies page, along with additional safeguarding information from the DfE, and important information for parents.
