Collection passwords and permission to walk home

To ensure our children have a safe journey home from school we have put in place a few arrangements for  parents/carers to review. This is also part of our admissions process for all new children .

Collection Passwords

As parents or guardians, we understand that on occasion you may need to ask another adult (who does not have parental responsibility) to collect your child, for example: a grandparent, another relative, a friend or another parent. If this is the case, to safeguard your child, we will ask the adult collecting for your collection password before the child is released to them. If this is a new adult, we would still really appreciate a phone call to let us know ahead of time if possible. For us to facilitate this, I would appreciate all parents/carers filling in the quick form below to create a collection password. This password will stay with your child throughout their time at OJS.

Walking Home / Bus Parent Permission

As parents and guardians, you may now feel that your child is mature enough to cope with the responsibility of using public transport or walking home from school alone. As a school, we strongly advise that this permission is only given to children in Year 5 and Year 6 and Year 4 children in the summer term. If you would like to give permission for your child to walk home or travel via the bus please fill in the permission slips below. Walking home is classed as any distance that you wish your child to walk after being dismissed at their usual point, this includes meeting your child at the gate, Well Lane, Trim Trail or the corner of School Lane.

Car Park Permits

To further ensure the safety of all children and adults in the car park we have a permit system in place which is monitored by a staff member on the gate. The car park is not open to parents / carers unless they meet one of the permit criterias. This helps to reduce the amount of cars in the car park during drop off and pick up times.

The car park permit request form can be found here:

After School Clubs:

  • We provide a large range of after school clubs; all classes receive a register for clubs for the week on a Monday and will take children to their club to be registered at the end of the day. Permission slips for clubs also require parents/carers to share if they give permission for them to walk home or that they will be collected.
