Curriculum Intent:
At Oakdale Junior School, we want all pupils to develop their natural curiosity into a passion to find out more about the world around them. Science is essential in understanding and interpreting everyday life. Children should feel awe and wonder when learning how the world works through their Science lessons.
Our curriculum has been carefully designed to build on the pupils’ learning in Key Stage 1 and extend and challenge them across Key Stage 2. They will develop the key knowledge, vocabulary and skills required to prepare them for their Science learning in Key Stage 3 and beyond.
Lessons follow a carefully planned sequence - each one building on ideas and experiences from preceding lessons, topics or units. Pupils are supported and challenged by careful task design that allows everyone to achieve their full potential. There are multiple opportunities from pupils to explore, revisit, explain, investigate and work collaboratively across each year group and throughout their time at Oakdale Junior School.
